Cougar
SCTH-AA Short Loop
10-08-23
Kim
will be leading a hike with her co-workers in a few weeks. We put
together a short loop hike close to Seattle. She wanted to hike it
first. Jon and I accompanied her on the trip. From the Sky Country
Trailhead to Anti-Aircraft Peak and back via two loops was just under 5
miles with nearly 500' of gain. Not much of a trip compared to my
normal distance. Still, it has some good scenery and this day we hit
the motherlode of mushrooms. I did not plan to do a trip report but
more than one hundred photos later I decided I needed to do one. I'm
not going to go into all the turns of our route. What I will do is just
show the photos. Most of them are of mushrooms or other assorted fungi.
After a dry summer the recent rains have caused the mushrooms to come
up everywhere. We seemed to see them every few minutes. That made it a
much more interesting hike than I expected. Now, on to the mushroom
show.
