Grand
Ridge
10-20-19
After
nearly two weeks sick at home for the first time in years I was more
than ready to get out of town. Not far out of town but at least to
Issaquah. It had been raining heavily for days and this day looked to
be at least partly dry. In fact I carried an umbrella but did not use
it until I was near my turnaround point. Not many bikes or people on
the trail. I saw only one bike on the way out. A quick 9 miles with
1500' of elevation gain. The deciduous trees were very colorful. The
best color was on the old railroad grade. Even the forest had a little
leaf color. The mushroom display was pretty good in general. There was
a log and a snag along the trail near the same point that were covered
with mushrooms. A real treat that required quite a bit of photography
time.
I was starting to feel better but two weeks in the house had me
dragging a little. The fairly gentle bike trail was a good choice. I
was able to keep up a pretty good pace though slower than usual. That's
about it. I was back at my car before noon. I generally do not take
photos on a Grad Ridge hike. This day it was well worth having at least
my phone camera along. All photos were taken by my phone. And now for
the photos.
