I was nearly 30 years old when
I discovered Larch trees. I had been hiking for about 8 years but had not
been to the eastern Cascade slopes in October. My first Larch trip was the
Miller Loop
.
When I first did the loop in the spring the group I tagged
along with noticed all the Larch trees along the way. In the fall I was determined
to see what they looked like when they changed color. The trip was a great
success as I marveled at the great colors. Ever since then I have tried
to get out for an October Larch hike each year. The Teanaway is my usual area
as it is both close to Seattle and my favorite hiking place as well. Below
are some of my favorite pictures taken on my annual October Larch hikes.
