Ocean Weekend
Page 3
It rained most of the night. No surprise there. In
the morning we headed down to the beach first. Once again the rain came
to a stop. We were amazingly lucky to have so little rain while on the beaches.
There was sun over the ocean and clouds over the land. It led to some interesting
lighting. This time we headed to the south. There were squalls raining
down farther south but it was pretty nice where we were. Nice but cold.
It was only about 40 degrees and the wind was blowing.
We had on multiple layers but my fingers were numb. Our visit was coming
towards the end and we were not in any hurry to leave. Unfortunately, the
check out time is 11:00 am so we had to head back. We checked out and went
for a last meal in the restaurant. The plan now was to head to my mom's
place in Port Orchard for Christmas. We took the scenic route through McCleary
then down to near the Skokomish then along the south shore of Hood Canal.
One more stop at Twanoah State Park and we were soon in Port Orchard.
This was a really fun trip. We had sun and storms along the coast. We
had rain in the rain forest. The resort was nice and so was their restaurant.
Any trip with Kim will have some unexpected moments and this one was no
exception. The coast is fun in the summer but in some ways it is even more
inteesting in the winter.
